Polish Grade/Level 1 – Bilingual Beginner Program

Our Polish Level 1 program is designed primarily for children entering first grade who are beginning to learn Polish or do not yet speak enough Polish to participate comfortably in our traditional Polish-language classes.

Instruction is provided in both English and Polish. Students gradually build foundational skills in:

  • Speaking and understanding Polish

  • Beginning reading and writing

  • Polish vocabulary and everyday communication

  • Polish culture, traditions, and celebrations

  • Confidence using Polish at school and at home

Although the program is primarily intended for first-grade students, older elementary-school children who are new to Polish may also be considered. Placement will depend on the child’s age, Polish-language experience, and individual learning needs.

This program provides a supportive entry point into Polish education and helps prepare students for continued learning at the Jan Matejko Polish School.

Classes begin September 12, 2026, and are held on Saturdays in McHenry.
